PAWS for WCDS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization, whose core mission is to provide support to the Wayne County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center.
PAWS assists in providing the highest level of care both physically and mentally to dogs in Wayne County, works to reduce the stray dog population through spay and neuter initiatives, and provides educational and training opportunities to the staff and public alike.
2025 Capital Campaign
Our goal is to ensure that every dog is spayed or neutered before adoption, and this new trailer will make that dream a reality. By having the trailer onsite, at the shelter, we will save time, reduce costs, and make the entire process more convenient for staff and adopters alike.
But that's not all - the climate controlled mobile unit will also allow us to participate in offsite adoption events, bringing our pups to the people and helping them find loving homes faster than ever.
All contributions are tax deductible, and 100% will go towards the purchase and operation of the trailer.

Memberships and Sponsorships Allow Us To Do The Following:
- Installed acoustic panels to reduce noise in the kennels
- Replaced 10 intake kennels at the shelter
- Provide the Leptospirosis vaccination to all dogs entering the shelter
- Installed fencing for 3 additional play yards
- Provided play structures in each play yard
- Landscaped and added trees for shade and privacy to the play yards
- Provide monthly heartworm prevention to all dogs at the shelter
- Annual contributions to the Dog Shelter Medical Fund assisting every dog in need of veterinary care.
- Annual Spay in May contributions to the Spay in Neuter Fund
